Horse as Fashion Billboard

Inspired by shaved heads with street cred, and the fact that my horse Optimist would put up
with almost anything for treats, my mega-talented friend Lori Jacobs and I collaborated on horse this clipping project.  Fashion, photography, horses, art, typography, and style–the perfect melding of influences.
Horse hair has a mind of its own and getting the curves and minute details to look correct is thanks to Lori’s skill with wielding hair clippers. She employed four sizes and various shapes of salon and barn clippers. Optimist, the equine model, was rewarded generously with peppermints and horse cookies in return for his seemingly endless patience.  He loved it!  And my reward?  This super fun shot.
It was a gift that kept on giving., The weeks passed, his hair grew in, and every day the texture and color combination changed and looked a different kind of beautiful.  Optimist garnered so much attention (lucky him)–everyone wanted a rear end just like his!
